Partial solar eclipse in Split!!!
Students - Duje Ancic, Tonka Buric and Ilijan Kotarac, active
participants of "The Sky as a Gift" project, organized the observation
of the partial solar eclipse of their own initiative on the 29th of
March, 2006 in the 3rd Secondary(gimmnasium) School in Split. Using two telescopes
and having the clear sky, they managed to delight the entire school.
Apart from that, they organized the direct transmission of the total
solar eclipse in Turkey via the Internet.

Planet hunters on "Catch a Star" competition !
February 3. 2006.
"
Catch a star" is international astronomy competititon. ESO and the
European
Association for Astronomy Education (EAAE) again welcome school students from all over the World to this exciting web-based
competition.
This Year, for first time, Croatia has representatives on this competition. Students
Ilijan Kotarac and Tonka Buric are
competing in "Catch a star - categorie 1" with research project: Exoplanets.
Ilijan and Tonka started project on
Summer school of astrobiology 2005 and continuing working on problem thay wrote reports that took them first to
Eureka
competition in Croatia and now on International Astronomy competition "Catch a star".
We wish them good luck and hope that the patience and creative work will be recognised and aworded.

SUMMER SCHOOL OF ASTROBIOLOGY
Kastela, August 2005.
On friday 19.August 2005. in Primary school "Ostrog" in Kaštel Lukšiću
with public presentation of 4 scientifis research projects finished first summer school of "Nebo na pokolon".
Main subject of the school was ASTROBIOLOGY.
14 students had chance to work in some of
4 interdisciplinarny projects whose aim is to provide students with hands-on experience with
science and scientific method in an informal atmosphere. Projects are lead by young scientists
and university students. Main Donator of this summer school was Grad Kastela.

CLOSING STAR PARTY OF "PRESENTING
THE SKIES 2005": THE BEST SCHOOL AND PUPILS
AWARDED WITH 6 TELESCOPES
The closing Star Party of "Presenting
the skies 2005" was held at saturday,
June the 11th 2005, in the elementary school of
"Ostrog" (in Kaštel Lukšić). The
best school and 5 of the best students were awarded with
telescopes!

| Award were handed to the winners by dr. sci. Hrvoje
Zorc (MZOS); dr. sci.
Mladen Pavlović (Institut Ruđer Bošković, zavod
LAIR), and Milijan Režic, prof.
Milijan Režic, prof., is a teacher form Vrgorac, who
joined the project in 2004. asa a teacher and turned
instructor for Dubrovacko-neretvanka county in 2005.
Prof. Režić helped
biuld the telescope for his school in summer 2004..
Telescopes were donated by dr. sci. Dejan Vinković
(dobson 150mm, f/6.4, for the best school), Marija
and Luka Kovačić (telescope"Picok", for
the best "4 nights" complete), dr. sci.
Zlatko and Vesna Bačić (telescope "Vesna",
for the best of "1. night"), dr. sci. Karin
Knesaurek (telescope"Karin", za "2.
night"), dr. sci. Željko and Pamela Ivezić
(telescope "Vedrana, za "2. night") anddr.
sci. Nenad and Petra Gucunski (telescope "Petra",

Top 15 pupils were invited to Summer
School of Astronomy, to be held in Kaštela, August
12. - 19. 2005.

FINAL PHASE OF "PRESENTING THE SKIES 2005"

With the end of the school year, this
year's edition of "Presenting the skies" is also approaching
its grand finale. Students are completing their final
exercises, telescopes are being returned to the owners
and project team is preparing for the closing star party.

"Presenting the skies" is based on pilot
project "Presenting the skies 2004".
During the past year's edition of "Presenting
the skies" project, 14 teachers received training
in practical astronomy. They will use this knowledge to develop
and run astronomy-based educational activities in their schools.
Project provided amateur telescopes for 12 primary schools,
one secondary school and one children's shelter. More than
100 children from all over Splitsko-Dalmatinska county participated
in the project. At the final
star party the best school was awarded the telescope.
